Jack Weston, Tony Award-nominated character actor, and Mega Genius®

Jack Weston was an extraordinarily accomplished and versatile character actor, whose 40-year career spanned Broadway, motion pictures and television.

He appeared on television in Captain Video, in 1949, and soon thereafter in Rod Brown of the Rocket Rangers; The United States Steel Hour; Gunsmoke; Playhouse 90; The Twilight Zone; The Untouchables; The Man From U.N.C.L.E.; Perry Mason; and The Carol Burnett Show.

In 1958, he made his silver-screen debut in Stage Struck, followed by dozens of other movies, including Imitation of Life; Please Don’t Eat the Daisies; The Four Seasons; The Honeymoon Machine; The Cincinnati Kid; The Thomas Crown Affair; A New Leaf; Fuzz; Gator; The Ritz; Ishtar; and Dirty Dancing.

In some films, such as Cactus Flower, starring Walter Matthau, Ingrid Bergman and Goldie Hawn -- the seventh highest grossing motion picture of 1970 -- he played clumsy, comic characters.  Nevertheless, he was equally adept at portraying a sleazy villain or terrifying killer, such as in the mystery thriller Wait Until Dark, in 1967, in which he schemed, stalked and terrorized a blind Audrey Hepburn.

For his stage work, Jack was nominated for a Tony award as “Best Actor on Broadway,” in Woody Allen’s comedy The Floating Light Bulb.  He also appeared on stage in Bells are Ringing, with Judy Holliday; Crazy October; The Ritz; One Night Stand; Neil Simon’s California Suite; Shakespeare’s Measure for Measure; and Paddy Chayefsky’s The Tenth Man.

Jack Weston was a top-notch actor, who insisted that he never got a part from an agent.  Producers, directors and playwrights were so impressed with his acting abilities that they continually called him.

Jack passed away from lymphoma, in 1996, at age 71.
